Effect of Light Intensity on Hematological Parameters of Boars
Original language description
The main objective of this thesis was to evaluate the effect of light intensity on selected blood elements of boars, because photoperiodism or various levels of light intensity respectively affect the organism, which has been confirmed by a number of scientific studies. The Duroc breed was chosen in order to observe the effect of varying light intensity (increased intensity, decreased intensity) in relation to changes in hematological blood examination. Blood enabled determination of erythrocyte and leukocyte levels as well as the amount of hemoglobin. In terms of erythrocytes, there has been a provable rise caused by higher light intensity, where the level of hemoglobin in blood has evidently increased as well. The level of leukocytes has also been higher in the section with higher intensity, however, this value has not been considered as statistically conclusive. Higher light intensity, therefore, causes both increased hemoglobin and erythrocyte level in boars.
