Potato virus Y transmission by Sitobion avenae and Myzus persicae
Original language description
The control of aphid PVY vectors is necessary in potato seed crops. Potato virus Y is one of the most damaging potato viruses. In this study relative efficiency factor (REF) of Sitobi on avenae (Fabricius, 1775) in comparison to Myzus persicae (Sulzer 1776) was evaluated. One thousand plants of Physalis floridana were used as indicator plants for transmission by 1360 aphids in total. S. avenae did not transmit PVY once while M. persicae transmitted PVY in 26.6% cases.
