Original language description
Madagascar is a hot spot of the diversity of the supertribe Clavigeritae, with 33 genera and 74 species. The clavigerite genera Rhynchoclaviger Wasmann, 1891 and Paussiger Wasmann, 1893 are revised. The genus Sufifer Newton & Chandler, 1989 is treated as a junior synonym of Paussiger. All species of these two genera are redescribed. One new species, Paussiger fisheri sp. nov. is described. Keys to genera of the Rhynchoclaviger group as well as to species of the genus Paussiger are given, and a map showing the distribution of all species is provided.
