The paper analyzes possibilities of using European beech(Fagus sylvatica L.) in the regeneration of existing Norway spruce (Picea abies Karst.) stands in the air polluted region of north-eastern Krušné hory Mts and compares the prosperity of artificial stands with plantations in the region of Bohemian-Moravian Upland, unaffected by air pollution. The survey included 11 forest stands in the Krušné hory Mts and 10 forest stands in the Bohemian-Moravian Upland, aged 5-18 years, growing on acidic sites in Forest altitudinal vegetation zones (FAVZ) 6 and 7. It can be stated that the growth dynamics of beech plantations in the north-eastern Krušné hory Mts does not differ from that in the Bohemian-Moravian Upland. In the Krušné hory Mts beech can be successfully grown under shelterwood planted under the current stand and planted on small clearings efficiently shelted by the stand from the side.

Práce analyzuje možnosti uplatnění buku lesního (Fagus sylvatica L.) při obnovách stávajících porostů smrku ztepilého (Picea abies Karst.) v imisní oblasti severovýchodního Krušnohoří a porovnává prosperitu těchto výsadeb s výsadbami v imisemi neovlivněné oblasti Českomoravské vysočiny. Do šetření bylo zahrnuto 11 porostů v Krušných horách a 10 porostů na Českomoravské vysočině, ve stáří 5 až 18 let na kyselých stanovištích 6. a 7. lesního vegetačního stupně. Lze konstatovat, že se v oblasti severovýchodního Krušnohoří se růstová dynamika kultur buku neliší od oblasti Českomoravské vysočiny. V Krušných horách lze buk úspěšně pěstovat clonným způsobem -- podsadbami pod stávající porost a výsadbami na malé holiny účinně kryté boční clonou porostu.
