STRENGTH DESIGN OF FURNITURE
Original language description
This paper describes a relatively new method of furniture design and construction, which combines numerical simulation testing with real testing of proposed furniture design. The main focus of the project is put on the complex understanding and masteringof real furniture testing, specifically, testing of furniture joints. A reason why we focused on the joints is because the joints are usually the weakest part of the whole furniture construction. This method is presented within the large scope of furniture development concept. Thus, the method is projected to be adopted by large and mid-size furniture manufacturers. The overall goal of the proposed methodology lies in higher quality of furniture, reached by new computer technologies employment. The authors aim to attain a practical usability of this method by understanding of all parts of the problematic.
