The Influence of the Soil Treatment on the CBR Test Values
Original language description
California bearing ratio (CBR) test has been used for classification and analyses of soils in road subgrades and road construction materials around the world. One of the problematic moments in the CBR laboratory tests is the use of annular weights. During a CBR test a required number of annular weights, whose weight substitutes for the future road body, is placed around the penetration plunger and on a test specimen. The authors determined the inaccuracy between the weight of used annular weights and the standardized value when the annular weights should substitute the load stress that would be caused by a road body thickness of 700 mm. This contribution is focused on soil behavior while using different values for loading of samples by annular weights, whose purpose is to substitute weight of the road above the tested layer. The soils was tested both in its natural state, and also stabilized by the addition of hydraulic binder. Loading of a sample by one weight with the weight of 2 kg
