Properties and Application of Surface Coatings on Composite Material Based on Epoxy Casting Resins and Solid Wood
Original language description
This article deals with the surface finish of composite materials, specifically epoxy-based casting resins, in conjunction with solid wood. These epoxy resins are increasingly used in the furniture industry for the manufacture of tables and worktops. The aim of this article is to describe in more detail the surface treatment issues of these composite materials and epoxy resins. The paper focuses on evaluating the surface finish properties of these materials, including water vapour resistance, abrasion, micro-scratches and surface gloss, but also shows the epoxy surface through SEM analysis. The flexural strength of the bonded joint, the durability of the surface finish and the epoxy resin are also investigated.
