Since 1981 the aim of the apricot breeding programme at the Horticultural Faculty in Lednice has been to obtain new adaptable cultivars, which combine most of the valuable biological traits. Standard breeding techniques, such as crossing by emasculationand hand pollination, self-pollination and open pollination, were employed. A total of 1,014 crossings were produced from more than 100 different parents. So far 15,000 seedlings have been obtained, of which about 10,000 have already been evaluated. Themost interesting selections were grafted and planted in trial orchards (now we have more than 500 elite genotypes). Seven of these have already been registered, and a further four promising new cultivars have been submitted for registration (Marlen, Svatava, Minaret, Palava) and several more with a high level of PPV tolerance have been selected for further investigation (for example, LE-3276 - Betinka, LE-2927, LE-2926, LE-3241). Od roku 1981 je cílem programu šlechtění meruněk Zahradnické fakulty v Lednici získat nové adaptibilní odrůdy, které v sobě kombinují, co nejvíce hodnotných biologických znaků. Jako standardní šlechtitelské techniky v křížení jsou využívány -- kastrace anásledné ručn 1 014 křížení u více jak 100 odlišných rodičů. Dosud bylo získáno 15 000 semenáčů, ze kterých bylo skutečně hodnoceno okolo 10 000. Nejvíce zajímavé selekce byly naroubovány a hodnoceny ve staničních zkouškách (v současné době máme více než 500 elitních genotypů). Třináct z nich bylo registrováno (Marlen, Svatava, Minaret, Palava a další). Několik jich bylo vybráno s vysokým stupňem tolerance k PPV pro další výzkum (např. LE--3276 -- Betinka, LE-2927, LE-2926, LE-3241). Znalost dědičnostirezistence k PPV pomůže v plánování v programu šlechtění meruněk.
