    Influence of alternative organic fertilizers on antioxidant capacity in head cabbage and cucumber

    Conventional mineral fertilizer was compared with alternative organic fertilizers for the crop of head cabbage and cucumber. There were seven different treatments: Agormin (an organo-mineral fertilizer), Agro (made from poultry bedding and molasses), conventional farmyard manure, compost, Dvorecký agroferm (dried, aerobically-fermented farmyard manure), mineral fertilizer, and an unfertilized control. All treatments were applied at rates providing approximately the same level of nutrients. The level ofthe total antioxidant capacity (TAC) was measured by FRAP assay immediately after harvest. Average value of TAC in fresh cabbage was 236 (sd 60) mg GA.100 g-1 in the year 2005 and 295 (sd 27) mg GA.100 g-1 in the year 2006. Average value of TAC in fieldcucumber was 125 (sd 32) mg GA.100 g-1 in the year 2005 and 104 (sd 60) mg GA.100 g-1 in the year 2006.     Minerální hnojiva byla srovnávána s alternativními organickými v kultuře zelí a okurek. Použité varianty: Agormin, Agro, hnůj, kompost, Dvorecký Agroferm, minerální hnojivo a nehnojená kontrola. Hladina celkové antioxidační kapacity (TAC) byla po sklizniu zelí 236 (so 60) mg GA.100 g-1 v roce 2005 a 295 (so 27) mg GA.100 g-1 v roce 2006. Průměrná hodnota TAC u okurek byla 125 (so 32) mg GA.100 g-1 v roce 2005 a 104 (so 60) mg GA.100 g-1 v roce 2006. Alternativní organická hnojiva vykazují podobný nebozlepšující vliv ve srovnání s hnojem a mohou přispět ke zvýšení nutriční hodnoty zeleniny.
