Original language description
Growing European plum trees in the Czech Republic has a rich tradition. At the beginning of the last century the plums were the most important fruit species, but in year 1929 was half the orchards crashed or damaged by strong frost. Despite the high popularity of European plums are Japanese plum trees practically unknown. Japanese plums are abundantly sold in the supermarket in the last years but there are not commercial plantings. Japanese plum trees bloom early and they are damaged by late frost.
