Original language description
Spanning more than six decades from beginnings during the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy to recent times, this chapter provides an account of landscape architecture education history in Czechoslovakia, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. In former Czechoslovakia, the profession of Sadovnictví a krajinářství started developing in 1962 as part of Horticulture and since 1979 as an independent field of study in Lednice. In 1993, Czech and Slovak branches grew, with Lednice, Nitra, Bratislava, and Prague gradually establishing institutes of higher education. Highlighting the many pathways that education took, educators from all five schools present this chapter.
