The paper focuses on the development of education in socialist Czechoslovakia. The aim of the authors is to present the manifestations and impacts of the narrow and at the same time uncritical orientation of socialist Czechoslovakia on the Soviet Union in connection with the building of the Czechoslovak vocational education in the years 1948–1959. The paper is based on the study of period legislation, periodicals, archival sources and the oral history method. The paper is a partial result of the project called Secondary Technical School in Socialist Czechoslovakia from the History of the Everyday Life Point of View. Oral History Interviews with Teachers (Czech Science Foundation, no. 19-24776S).
