Porcine obese (leptin) and growth hormone gene: frequency of genotypes and alleles in Duroc and hybrid pigs
Original language description
The objective ot the present study was to compare distribution of the genotypes and alleles of growth hormone (GH) and obese (Lep) genes and analyse possible interaction between them. The genotypes of the analysed genes were determined by PCR-RFLP usingHaeII, MspI (growth hormone gene) and HinfI restriction endonucleases ( obese gene) in 115 Duroc and 180 hybrid pigs. The alleles were characterised with these fragments: GH- HaeII: allele - = 506bp; allele + = 333, 173bp; GH-MspI: allele - = 284, 222bp;allele + = 222, 147, 137bp; Lep: allele T = 152bp, allele C = 84, 68bp. Frequencies of genotypes of all involved genes in both populations showed a concordant distribution of genotypes and were in a genetic equilibrium according to the Hardy-Weinberg law. We found the statistically significantly different GH-HaeII and Lep gene distribution between breed Duroc and hybrid pigs.
