The paper presents partial data obtained within the framework of analysis of dynamics and developm. trends in time series of some selected agro-alimentary commodities within the transformation period of Czech national economy to free market system. The analysis of factographic data about the volume of imports in natural and monetary units characterising individual groups of goods it is possible not only quantify their average levels and variability but also to carry out an exact analysis of annual changes and developmental trends. When comparing dynamic characteristics quantifying the development of imports of selected commodities it was demonstrated that imports of foodstuffs and live animals, beverages and tobacco, and animal and plant oils, fats andwaxes the total imports nearly doubled within the period of 1993-1998.
