The objective of the work was to study the effect of BIFEZH (a sorbent containing cellulose and 7-10% of hexacyanoferrate, Eksorb-Chernobyl, Jekaterinburg, Russia; dosage 0.5 g per kg of the feed mixture) on 137-Cs uptake from artificially contaminated feed into meat of 14-38-day old broiler chickens. Doses of contaminated feed mixture (ca 150 Bq) were applied orally twice a day for 10 days. The first dose was applied to 14-day-old broiler chickens. Reduction factors increased during accumulation and reached a value of more than 7.7 and decreased during the decontamination period. BIFEZH is easily mixed with the feed, and can be recommended as the antidote to suppress the uptake of 137-Cs by broiler chicken from the feed mixture.
