The changes of abscisic acid Ievel in zygotic embryo during pea seed development
Original language description
The process of zygotic embryo development of pea (Pisum sativum L.) has been described in several papers (e.g. Marinos 1970; Liu et al., 1999) and it was usually divided into 12 stages starting with fertilization, through embryo development to seed formation. The Iast two stages of pea embryo development -organ formation and organ maturation (Wang, Hedley, 1993) -are connected with storage products accumulation (starch, proteins). We studied the relationship between abscisic acid (ABA) Ievels in zygoticembryo during seed development and morphological stage of embryo, and also the distribution of ABA in immature pea seed and fruit. The changes in ABA Ievel induced experimentally by tlurochloridone (inhibitor of carotenoid and ABA biosynthesis) were compared to normal embryo/seed development (control).
