Original language description
Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L., Coriandrum sativum L. var. microcarpum D.C.) is one of the most important spice plant cultivated in the Czech Republic with an area around 300 - 500 ha. The essential oil ranges approximately around 0,8 - 1,8 %. During the seasons in 2000 - 2002, coriander was treated by various desiccants two weeks before harvest. The influence of the desiccants on the quality of product was studied and following characteristics were evaluated: a number of plant per 1 m2 , a weight ofthousand seeds, seeds yield, the volatile oil content and volatile oil composition. Only the essential oil content was statistically significant affected by the treatment.
