Original language description

Three SNPs within intron 3 were found by direct sequencing of the porcine PCR products of ~800 bp. Two of these SNPs can be detected by PCR-RFLP using Eco47III and XmaJI. The polymorphic composite microsatellite (SCZ001) with tetranucleotide repeat region was found in intron 3. We described a total of 15 different alleles differing in length. All fragment were sequenced and sequences have been deposited in the EMBL database. Allele frequencies in unrelated pigs of different breeds are presented Linkagemapping of APOA2 in the Hohenheim M x P pedigree was accomplished using the SCZ001 polymorphism. The APOA2 gene was localized to chromosome 4 and a partial linkage map is: V-ATPase-5.3-ATP1B1-4.2-SDHC-0.2-APOA2-1.3-CASQ1-1.3-ATP1A -0.0-MEF2D. Using radiation hybrid mapping (IMpRH), APOA2 was assigned to chromosome 4, between markers SW1364 and SW589.
