The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of ZYMV on economic value of 40 pickling cucumber cultivars. The experiment (2002 and 2003) was designed in two variants (control and with inoculation). The plants were treated by pesticids weekly.The reaction of plants to ZYMV a cucumber fungi was assessed in weekly interval by the help of nine points scale for diagnostics. The assault index was calculated according to Towsend and Heuberger. The highest leaf surface ZYMV index was on the varities Melody, Evita, Mira and Sequenza (65-80%), the lowest showed Regina and Royal (42-55%). The highest marketable yield was achieved by the varities Tempesta, Duet and Regina (0,5-3,5 kg per plant). The lowest yield was recorded by the varities Fatima, Hana and Romana (0,05-0,6 kg per plant). It was possible to draw a conclusion that varities with high yield potential could achieve also high marketable yield at high assault index.
