Influenza of horses in the Czech Republic between 1995 - 2000
Original language description
Influenza of horses is a disease, which occurs, in smaller and larger epizootia in horse breeding, all over the world. Independent occurrences of influenza of horses were verified three times in the Czech Republic in the monitored period 1995 to 2000. The disease of clinically ill animals was verified using a serologically haemoglutination-inhibition test and isolation of a virus. All isolated viruses belonged to a sub-type 2, whilst isolates of the year 1995 were classified in the Euro-Asian line and the isolate of the year 1997 belonged to the American line; this was the first isolate of this type in the territory of the Czech Republic and surrounding states. We have completed classical methods of proofs with a method RT-PCR, based on a detection ofRNA coding nucleoprotein. Using this method, we have proved the virus of influenza, responsible for the centre of the occurrence in 2000.
