New Outbreak of Swine Influenza in the Czech Republic,
Original language description
Swine influenza has not caused any serious health or economic losses in the Czech Republic since the end of the 1960's. No manifestations of this disease have been confirmed in pig herds during the last ten years, with the exception of a single virus isolation in 1992 and detection of antibodies against human influenza in 1996 following the 1995 human epidemic. In 2000, swine influenza virus was isolated from feeder pigs on a large farm with nearly 10 000 animals. Our new isolate was designated A/sw/Brno/1/2000.
