  • Original language description

During our surveillance of swine influenza in 2002 - 2003 we tested sera of sows for the antibodies against swine and human influenza viruses. We used hemaglutination-inhibition test with swine influenza viruses Sw/Gent/1/84 (H3N2), Sw/Eng/117316/86 (H1N1), Sw/Finistere/82 (H1N1 avian-like), Sw/Scot/410440/94 (H1N2) received in the ESNIP project and human influenza viruses A/Plzeň/2000 (H3N2) and A/New Caledonia/99 (H1N1). The specific pig antisera against viruses A/Sw/Gent/132/86, A/Sw/Scotland/410440/94 and A/Sw/Finistiere/82 obtained from the ESNIP project were used as positive controls. These sera reacted against homologous viruses at titre levels of 1:320 to 1:640. None of them reacted with any of the human viruses. Sera with a titre of 1:40 and higher were regarded as positive.Out of 666 sera examined from 85 farms, we detected 56,5% prevalence of antibodies against swine influenza viruses. Prevalence of antibodies against swine virus Sw/Scot/410440/94 (H1N2) was 8,9%. Antibodies
