Comparison of biochemical profiles of blood of cows, their calves in the day of birth and calves at the end of the colostral period
Original language description
The trial focused on studying cattle metabolism in the mother/young relationship by comparing the results of biochemical blood tests of cows on the day they gave birth, of their calves on the day of birth (before colostrum intake), and of the same calvesat the end of the colostral period.Blood samples were taken from 18 cows on the day they gave birth and from their calves on the same day before colostrum intake in order to establish selected biochemical parameters (total protein (TP), albumin (A), globulines (G), imunoglobulines (Ig), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gama glutamyltransferase (GMT), creatin kinase (CK), lactate dehydrogenase (LD), zinc, copper, selenium, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), tri-iodthyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), vitaminA, vitamin E, and total antioxidant capacity). The same parameters were established for the calves again, at the end of the colostral period, i.e. at 5 days of age. Selenium concentration was established in whole blood samples heparinised
