The goal of this study was to assess serological prevalence of antibodies against Anaplasma phagocytophilum in horses in Czech Republic and evaluation of clinical cases of equine granulocytic ehrlichiosis (EGE) in Czech Republic in the period 2002-2007.In the first part of our study sera from ninety horses were examined. Horses were stabled in eight different parts of Czech Republic. They were 2-23 years old, 43 mares, 26 geldings and 21 stallions of different breeds. Antibodies were detected by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA). General prevalence of EGE antibodies in Czech Republic was 67,8% (61/90). Different results were obtained from different stables. Higher prevalence was found in stallions. Age dependence was not observed. Eleven horsesof different breeds were included in the second part of the study.
