Expression and serological reactivity of hexon protein of hemorrhagic enteritis virus in turkey
Original language description
Hemorrhagic enteritis virus (HEV) belongs into Siadenovirus genus , family Adenoviridae and infects avian species. HEV causes a widespread enteral disease of turkey characterized by depression, hemorrhagic diarrhea, splenomegaly and immunosuppression inturkeys from four weeks of age. The target tissue for virus replication is lymphatic system. The virus replicates in B cells and macrophages and is concentrated in large amount in the spleen. The aim of this work was to express recombinant hexon proteinof hemorrhagic enteritis virus, to establish the diagnostic value of this protein for serological detection of antibodies in turkey serum samples and to assess seroprevalence of the disease in the Czech Republic. The gene fragment coding N' terminal partof hexon protein was PCR amplified and expressed in bacterial expression system. Serological reactivity of recombinant hexon protein was assessed on a panel of 98 turkey sera by immunoblotting. Serum samples originated from turkey farms
