EFFECT OF LOW DOSE ASA MEDICATION ON COAGULATION PARAMETERS IN RABBITS WITH RIGHT-VENTRICLE PACING

  • Original language description

Introduction. Antiaggregant therapy is standard in humans with permanent cardiac pacing due to presence of foreign material in right chamber and risk of thromboembolism. However, not all patients follow the instructions and not all patients tolerate ASA.The aim of this study was to evaluate safeness of pacing without ASA on animal model using rabbits. Material and methods. Eight clinically healthy New Zealand rabbit of age 14 weeks were used for this study. After placing of right-ventricle pacer, rabbits were receiving marbofloxacinum (2 mg/kg) and tolfenamic acid (0.1 ml/kg) for 7 days. From eighth day they were medicated with metoprolol (50 mg/l of water) and half of them with ASA (12.5 mg/l of water). Blood was collected 5., 9. and 11. week after ASA medication into citrate and EDTA test tubes. Activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), prothrombin time (PT), thrombin time (TT) fibrinogen (FBG), D-dimers (D-D) and platelet count were estimated. Results. Significant differences w
