On the master class the protocols for surgery soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, head surgeries, repair of mandibular fractures, and tongue surgeries in chameleons will be described in details. Preoperative care includes intensive fl uid therapy.The standard protocol for chameleon anaesthesia is based on the use of inhalation anaesthesia after induction with alfaxalone of propofol. Intubation in chameleons is a difficult procedure that must be done with patience and delicacy. The gas fl ow should be slow, with the pressure not exceeding 5 ml of water column. Respiratory rate should range from 4 to 10 breaths per minute. Before entering the body cavity, inhalation anaesthesia should be adequately adjusted to stop breathing for a while. If this is not done, air sacs may sharply protrude into the surgical wound, which makes the operation very diffi cult.
