Studies of transfer of harmful substances from feed to chicken tissues
Original language description
Transfer of selected analytes from feed to chicken tissues was studied in an area where the level of contamination by xenobiotics had been checked within a pilot study. Feeds and tissues were analysed by ICP, HRGC and HPLC for the contens of hazardous elements, aflatoxins, organic chlorinated pesticides, PCBs and PAHs. No marked transfer of cadmium, lead or arsenic into tissues was demonstrable during the fattening period of 40 days. All matrices under study were free of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 a G2. PAHswere demonstrated in feeds but not in chicken tissues. On the other hand, OCPs and PCBs were found in tissues although their concentrations in feeds were below the analytical limit or slighly above it.
