Original language description
Both Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli are the common causes of serious bacterial enteritis in man. Findings of Campylobacter jejuni or Campylobacter coli, eventually other Campylobacter species frequently occur in the environment, animals, anddiseased man. Increasing intensification of animal breeds as well the claim of high effectiveness of feedlot has led to antibiotics and antimicrobials overuse in farm animal breeds. As a result of that, resistance to antibiotics in animal breeds and human medicine has developed in many bacterial species including Campylobacter spp. Situation in the occurrence of resistant strains Campylobacter jejuni/coli in animals and human population in the Czech Republic is not known yet.
