Original language description
Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli are the common causes of serious bacterial illnesses in humans. To find Campylobacter jejuni or Campylobacter coli and if necessary the other strains of Campylobacter sp. they quite frequently come from animals, the environment or even from human diseases. Increasing intensification of breeding and the requirement for highly effective feeding led to the use of antibiotics and antimicrobial substances in the breeding of farm animals and also in human medicine. The situation of an occurrence in resistant strains of Campylobacter jejuni, Campylobacter coli in animals and in the human population of the Czech Republic is not known. Obtained results show that resistance in strains originated from pigs is very highto Streptomycin, Tetracyclin, Erythromycin and Nalidix acid ( up to 90%) on the other hand strains originated from poultry are sensitive.
