    The PCR assay was based on primers specific for 23sRNA to differentiate thermophilic Campylobacter spp. In human isolates from patients with gastroenteritis 26 subtypes were also found. Four clones with the highest frequency both in human and poultry samples were futher charaterised by PFGE analysis.
