The present study reviews the existing knowledge about the utilization of pea in livestock nutrition. Based on our analysis, we evaluated the nutritional value of 11 pea varieties (Pisum sativum L.) - Zekon, Herold, Sponsor, Hardy, Terno, Baryton, Tudor,Concorde, Proplet, Slovan and Sully. The results were compared with the nutritional value of 8 soybean varieties - Rita, Tundra, Moravia, Quito, Eirin, Korada, Bohemia and Vision. Because peas are used as high protein feed, attention was paid especiallyto the content of crude proteins and their quality, which was evaluated based on the content of individual amino acids. In final parts of the study we evaluated the intervarietal variability, and the most favourable pea varieties in relation to animal nutrition were suggested.
