The aim of this study was to monitor S. aureus growth and toxin production in goat colostrum. In total, 139 samples were collected and investigated in periods January- February 2015 in the Czech Republic. Toxin-producing Staphylococcus aureus can be present in goat colostrum. Detection of S. aureus was carried out according to ISO 6888-1. Altogether, 79 (56.8%) positive samples were detected. A total of 79 S. aureus isolates were characterised for production of staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) SEA-SEEand SEH by multiplex PCR according to Lovseth et al. (2004). A total 24 (30.4%) enterotoxin positive S. aureus were obtained. In our study, the 13 (16.5 %) of these isolates were positive for the production of classical enterotoxins SEA-SEE, which are the leading cause of foodborne diseases.
