Glutathione in blood of rabbit does and the impact of herbal feed supplements on its levels
Original language description
The aim of the experiment was to determine the values of reduced and oxidized glutathione (GSH, GSSG) in a whole blood of rabbit does and to evaluate the influence of oral supplementation of herbal extracts with antioxidant properties in feed mixture onits concentration. Thirty rabbits involved in the experiment were divided into three groups: group O (n = 10), group AV 3 (n = 10) and control group C (n = 10). Each group was fed an indentical feed mixture supplemented in group O by an expeller of milkthistle (Silyfeed) and in group AV3 by a product PX AV3, which consists mainly of milk thistle (Silybum marianum) and ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba). Blood for the assessment of glutathione was taken after 120 days from the ear vein. The concentration of oxidised and reduced glutathione in blood samples was not significantly influenced by the supplementation of herbal extracts.
