Original language description
This study investigated the developmental toxicity of fluconazole and 1,2,4-triazole on Xenopus laevis embryos using the FETAX (Frog Embryo Teratogenesis Assay – Xenopus) protocol. Embryos were exposed to three concentrations (1, 100, and 1000 μg/L) of each compound for the period of 120 hours. No significant mortality or delay in hatching was observed; however, FLU exposure led to a concentration-dependent increase in malformations, elevated heart rate, and increased body length, indicating higher developmental toxicity. TRIAZ showed significantly lower toxicity, with minimal effects observed only at the highest concentration. These findings highlight the environmental risks posed by pharmaceutical and pesticide residues, particularly azole compounds, to non-target aquatic organisms.
