The effect of handling and transport on the concentration of glucoce and cortisol in blood plasma of common carp.

  • Original language description

The goal of this contribution was to assess the degree of stress loading in common carp (Cyprinus carpio, L.) exposed to handling and transport. Cortisol and glucose concentrations in blood plasma were used as loading indicato Within the frame of handling, an effect of time pause (0; 2 and 5 min) between catching the fish in water and blood sampling for stress loading indicators was checked. Another goal of this contribution was to assess the effect on the stress loading indicators. Results showed thatboth the handling and the transport are important stressors of comon carp. Preventive arrangements were proposed, lowering the negative effects of these stressors.
