Humine acid-based sorbent was tested in operational conditions of broiler fattening in two different systems of housing technology and of pig rearing. The sorbent contained 94.5% of humic acids in dry matter.The first measurements of air ammonia concentrations were done simultaneously in two broiler houses of the Louisiana type with equal stocking densities. This housing type, characterised by deep litter and ventilation controlled by opening and closing of side "windows", is known for high air ammoniaconcentrations at the time of stocking. The sorbent was used in one of the houses, while the other one served as a control. Mean ammonia concentrations on the day subsequent to stocking were 53.8 and 5.4 mg/m3 in the control and the experimental rooms, respectively. Mean efficacy of the sorbent was 90%.Three measurements were done during a fattening period to test the efficacy of the sorbent in conventional broiler fattening houses.
