The aim of this work was to study the influence of Pigment Volume Concentration (PVC) and particle shape of fillers on mechanical and anticorrosion properties of water-born and solvent coatings. Water-borne coatings based on copolymer styren-acrylate dispersion, polyurethane dispersion and solvent coatings with alkyd resin were prepared with different PVC (quotient 60 and 80 %) and different particle shape fillers based on calcined kaoline. The physiomechanical properties of coating films were ascertained by means of measuring the shock resistance, cupping stability in Erichsen instrument, bending strength and adhesion by the grid method. The anticorrosion coating film properties were ascertained in a condensation chamber with a condensing humidity, asalt-spray chamber and dipping test into 5% solutions of acid brine, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid.
