Production of light olefins from renewable resources ? the effect of deoxygenation degree on yields of light olefins
Original language description
Biomass is the only renewable source of carbon and therefore it is an important raw material for the production of renewable fuels and chemicals. Triglycerides are, thanks to their chemical structure, well-suited for direct production of fuels, which isnot the case with general biomass (wood, straw, etc.). The main sources of triglycerides are vegetable oils, animal fats and various wastes, such as used frying oils, yellow and brown grease, etc. Triglycerides can be converted by hydrotreating into a mixture of hydrocarbons that can be used for diesel fuel blending or as a feedstock for steam cracker to produce light olefins. The proposed presentation will focus on both the transformation of triglycerides into hydrocarbons and on the application of theobtained hydrocarbons and their mixtures with deoxygenation intermediates for the production of light olefins.
