In Zubří (Czech Republic) a field trial was carried out to analyse the variability of wild populations and varieties of Arrhenatherum elatius recorded in the European Database and maintained in the European gene banks and institutes. 135 accessions of tall oatgrass were obtained from 14 European gene banks and institutes and characterised and evaluated as spaced plants in 2000 - 2001. In this study morphological and phenological characters of a subset of 73 ecotypes were cluster analysed to identify level of similarity or dissimilarity of wild accessions in the European collections.
