Mathematical concepts in Czech pre-schoolers
Original language description
One of the factors affecting pupil's results in mathematics in the compulsory education period is probably the lack of informal knowledge in mathematics, which a child learns in the interaction with their environment at pre-school age. This study provides an overview of the achieved level of mathematical skills of 269 pre-school children. The research method used the Test of Early Mathematics Ability, which is designed to detect the specific developmental disorders of learning in mathematics, as well as enabling the discovery of talented children in this area. According to the available standard, 47.58 percent of children achieved the average rating, 39.41 percent were below average, and only 2.23 percent achieved an above average rating.
