The paper focuses on the standing of listening comprehension in teaching French as a foreign language at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Its objective is to inform how this aspect is perceived by students and teachers of French; how often, how regularly, and in what form listening is used in lessons; how popular it is with Czech students and their teachers; whether (and if so, what kind of) impact it has on other language skills: reading, writing and speaking. The paper analyses the data gathered during the realized researched via methods of questionnaires and interviews.
