Time Banks in Russia: Filling an Empty Gap in Time Bank Research
Original language description
The research of active time banks around the world is a very challenging effort due to lack information and dynamic changes in the existence of the systems. This includes all possible changes in start-up, closing or working state of the time bank systems. There is research aimed at finding the answers of how many time banks (or complementary currency systems in general) exist in the world today. This paper aims to contribute to these mapping efforts by filling the gap about the situation with time banking in the Russian Federation as it seems to be untouched so far. As the topic is quite complex, the methodology in this paper includes several points: Enquiries of the people involved and time bank activists, a questionnaire survey, tracing time banks inother available resources on the internet and beyond. The results show that time banks exist in Russia with various levels of activity which are elaborated in detail in the paper.
