This paper analyzes the attitudes of entrepreneurs in subjective evaluation of their choice of business as the only way of employment. The analysis is based on data collected by means of a questionnaire survey focused on small and medium-sized businessesin the Czech Republic engaged in active business. The main objective is to systematically evaluate who and why considers business as the only option of obtaining their income. For purposes of the analysis, 191 participants of questionnaire survey were used. They answered that they had no choice but to do business to satisfy their financial and non-financial needs.
