Multiplicity of Barriers to Knowledge Sharing

  • Original language description

In an earlier publication of this discussion, the barriers to knowledge sharing were identified within an individual and social context and the relevant as motivational conflicts. This version complements the previous and augments the discussion with the role played by organisational and national culture. It also reviews the current controversies associated with the basic lexicon relative to knowledge sharing and the perceptions of barriers. Recent research suggests that a well-defined taxonomy is lacking that by itself renders the whole discussion to a state of "blurriness". As research in the area is on-going the authors do not claim that this is a comprehensive discussion. The intent is to provide academicians and Knowledge Management practitioners with an overview to provoke debate, further research, and consensus on a standardised lexicon for the discipline.
