An analysis of cloud computing usability for teleworking-A case study of small and medium-sized enterprises
Original language description
Cloud computing has been very important to ICT in recent years. Its technical and especially its economic characteristics can change the way an organisation views the future. In this paper, benefits associated with implementation of cloud computing in Czech SMEs are examined and correlated with flexible work arrangements and teleworking. This represents an important opportunity - flexibility and costs savings for both an organisation and its employees. The benefits of implementing teleworking affect not only employees and employers, but also the company as a whole. It reduces the burden posed by a transport operator and other indicators. It also decreases the burden of having a high concentration of people in urban centres, creates employment opportunities for people who live in remote locations and also creates employment opportunities for mothers with children and for people with disabilities. The aim of this paper is to describe selected resources for introducing alternative forms of working focused on using telework supported by cloud computing technologies in the Czech Republic. Methodology is based on a case study of analysed research and surveys that show the current status and disadvantages of the use of ICT and cloud computing technologies necessary for implementing teleworking in Czech SME's environment, including the most popular technologies and cloud computing usability. The objective of the article is to address the Czech SMEs in order to gain benefits of implementing a cloud computing solution, which is necessary to support teleworking. Key findings can be used as a basic decision-making resource for any SME that is currently considering whether to invest in the modernization of their existing IT infrastructure or to choose a cloud computing solution.
