Big data educloud: new educational potential
Original language description
The current rapid development in the field of BigData brings a new approach to teaching Database Systems. Reflecting the call for new knowledge and skills required from Graduates of the Faculty of Informatics and Management, University of Hradec Kralove, the topic of NoSQL databases, which are closely connected to BigData, was implemented in the curriculum. To ensure the quality of highly professional training program, the faculty started the co-operation with IBM in the summer semester 2015. The aim of the joint training program BigData EduCloud is to provide students with practical professional skills and prepare them for new positions that have recently been created on the labour market. The program consists of lectures, workshops and intensive consultations. Moreover, e-course in the LMS Blackboard was designed to support the study. Considering students' assessments, their performance in e-courses was tracked. Reflecting the results, the research problem was solved whether students' success rate in courses correlates to their visit rate, i.e. the frequency of their visit to the course. As expected, the significant correlation was discovered.
