A new probable cause of the Cuman invasion of the Byzantine Balkans in 1095
Original language description
The Cuman invasion of the Byzantine Balkans is a relatively little-known historical event, to which most researchers devote only a short sentence or, at best, several brief paragraphs. In my article, I am trying to pinpoint the exact date of this event, and also to investigate the possible true original causes of this military clash between the Byzantines and the Cumans. In my opinion, the reason given in few written sources does not correspond to the truth, and I suggest another possible cause, which is connected with the life and personal ambitions of the Rus' prince Oleg Sviatoslavich.
