Web Applications as Possible Replacement of Software for Interactive Whiteboards

Interactive whiteboards are used in education is already quite common. Almost every school in the Czech Republic has at least one interactive whiteboard, tablets or similar modern technologies. Trends of today are clear - to include the teaching of modern technology so effectively that students and pupils enjoy learning and using modern technology to learn the material faster and more efficiently than when using other methods. But involving these technologies into education also carries pitfalls - in the first place are the technologies themselves, their cost, installation, operation and last but not least, it places high requirements on teachers to get used to new technologies and integrate them well and quickly into education. We must also consider compatibility problems that can occur when using different software and possible hardware problems with connecting various devices, it is sure that teachers can be frustrated by their work. But there are applications that are free, do not require installation and can be cross-platform. This article aims to explore the possibilities and abilities of selected web application SMART Notebook Express, A Web Whiteboard (AWW) and the Web Whiteboard software. Our aim is to determine whether these applications are able to replace some installed tools for creating interactive content on the interactive whiteboard or whether they can be used more as a supplement to teaching with modern technologies.
