Original language description
Modernisation of control systems of industrial biotechnology processes to the current technology levels presents a challenging task because nowadays, there is a bigger stress put on the automatisation of the production process so that the possible humanfault is minimised. Because of dozens of variables and many relationships between them, it is very hard to make a mathematical model of the system for automatic control. We developed a unique knowledge based (KB) system that processes in real-time measurements taken from the running process (both data from sensors and evaluated laboratory samples) and provides output in the form of advices and warnings for process operators. For that we had to implement a tailored communication interface between the process control system and MATLAB where all the computations are carried out.
